Beautifully Blended

Lucas belongs to a family where his mother is black and his father is white. He is happy with his unique identity and in this story, he tells us what he loves about being in his family-the different languages, foods, and cultures. He realizes he does not have to fit into one or the other because he is beautifully blended. He celebrates both sides.

Often, biracial children are challenged with identity issues. In reading this story, children will understand that being in an interracial or mixed-race family, they do not have to chose a side. They can learn, celebrate, and appreciate both parts of themselves.
